What’s on Beth’s iPod?

Today, I decided it would be fun to deconstruct my iPod playlist and figure out exactly what kind of music I like listening to.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that the two things I blog about most frequently are the TV show Glee and StarKid (the college theatre company that put on A Very Potter Musical).

Not surprisingly, Glee and StarKid make up the vast majority of songs on my iPod. (And when I say “vast majority,” I mean almost 90%) Read the rest of this entry »

Photos from my Europe trip

Yes, I realize this has nothing to do with television. But my Europe trip was awesome, and I wanted to post some photos.

Sipping real Italian espresso at a cafe in Venice. I adore coffee. Like a lot. So this was definitely a long-awaited experience.

Gondola ride in Venice. Also quite awesome.

BethTalksTV is going on a short hiatus

Don’t worry, it’s not for long. I’m certainly not leaving you forever. However, I did just graduate from college a couple of weeks back, so I have decided to run off to Europe for a few weeks in celebration.

This means very limited internet access (and hence, no TV blogging) until closer to the end of January.

So, when this terrible, dreadful stupid-holidays,-why-on-earth-is-there-nothing-to-watch? TV rerun doldrums finally ends (…in about 5 days), I won’t even be in the country.

Talk about depressing. How on earth am I supposed to find out who hit Hanna with a car on Pretty Little  Liars? Or if my beloved alien Joshua is going to make it past the first episode of V alive? Read the rest of this entry »

TV Premiere Week (I’m so behind!)

Confession: I am very behind on my TV watching. It feels like every single show on the face of the planet premiered this week. And I haven’t been able to watch them all. I’ve had to work.

Silly jobs, getting in the way of my TV blogging. Who do they think they are? lol

Anyway, I stayed up late to watch/review DWTS for you. And now I’ve made a list of the shows I have been able to watch so far … and the one’s I haven’t been able to see yet – but still really want to. (List 2 will be updated to links with episode reviews once I’ve actually written them.)

Glee – Favorite show to premiere this week. I love Artie, I love Finn, I loved a lot of the songs … and next week is the Britney Spears ep!

Chuck Chuck Bartowski/Zachary Levi, I missed you. But you are back now, and all is right with the world. Read the rest of this entry »

TV Shows I Can’t Stand

After 56 blog posts covering over 28 different shows, perhaps you are left with the impression that I will watch anything and everything on TV. Understandable, yes. But shockingly enough … not actually true.

In fact, there are quite a number of shows that I really can’t stand. Included among them are:

1. Any and all Law & Orders. Every episode I watch is either about a prostitute, a drug bust, or someone getting brutally murdered. And I don’t really care to watch that.

2. Any and all CSIs. (See above). My one exception is CSI: Miami, but only on the very rare occasions when Brendan Fehr guest stars. He played Michael Guerin in Roswell and remains one of my favorite actors EVER. The Bachelor. I tried watching it at the gym once and literally lasted only about 10 minutes. It’s boring, trashy, and you know most of the contestants are only on their to get their 15 minutes of tabliod magazine cover “fame.”

Remember the Lawrence brothers?

Okay, so this really shouldn’t warrant a full blog post. But it’s going to anyway.

I watched 5 hours of Brotherly Love on YouTube today, and another 4 hours yesterday.

Weekends are lovely. Because after 40 hour workweeks … you really can do absolutely nothing on Saturday and Sunday if you so desire. (I have 2 1/2 more weeks of summer left until school and homework start back up, so I am taking full advantage of this time to be lazy.)

This all started with me reviewing Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence’s new sitcom Melissa and Joey earlier. I realized I’d seen plenty of Hart in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but I don’t recall ever watching more than a few episodes of Lawrence’s 1995-1997 sitcom Brotherly Love, which co-starred real-life brothers Matt and Andy.

If Boy Meets World and other late 90s shows have full episodes now posted on YouTube, I reasoned, maybe Brotherly Love does, too.

Nine hours later, here I am. I just finished watching season 1, episode 18. Oops.

Old Spice + YouTube = Genius

This post isn’t technically about TV, it’s about a TV commercial.

Normally I wouldn’t chose to blog about TV commercials. But these particular commericials happen to be so ridiculously fantastic that I choose to make an exception.

Old Spice Guy. I know you’ve heard of him. Always has his shirt off. Rides horses backwards. Swan dives into hot tubs that collapse and leave him sitting on a motorcycle. The dude’s a YouTube phenomenon.

“Helllloo, ladies.” “Look at you’re man. Now back to me. Now back at your man. Now back to me.”

“I’m on a horse.”

The actor’s name is Isaiah Mustafa. He’s a former NFL wide receiver, and up until now his only acting credits have been on a soap opera or single-episode bit parts on random TV shows.

If you are ever in need of an absolutely hilarious way to waste anywhere from 5 minutes to a good hour, you simply must check out the Old Spice YouTube page, where Mr. Mustafa recorded over a hundred personalized responses to tweets and internet postings about his commercial.

The clips range from about 20-70 seconds long, including:

@aplusk (actor Ashton Kutcher) “Please let me know if there is any way I can be of assistance to either you, or any of your 1.2 kabillion Twitter people-type friends.” [WATCH IT]

@mrskutcher (actress Demi Moore), where he beats up a pirate-shaped pinata with a plastic fish. [WATCH IT]

Actress Alyssa Milano gets a total of four videos. First he flirts with her, then he offers to give her nose-CPR. Read the rest of this entry »
